BCC Baseball Mission Statement
BCC Baseball advocates the development of strong fundamental
baseball skills in conjunction with an appreciation for good
sportsmanship. This should be the goal of every manager in our
league. When “winning” overrides these goals, we have concerns. It
is for this reason that we mandate fair playing time, position
changes and limits on the number of kids per team in our
recreational and developmental leagues. The goal of youth sports
should be to develop skills, sportsmanship, camaraderie and have
fun. A coach’s greatest challenge and gratification can come from
developing the less gifted players.
Baseball can play an important role in the development of our youth,
teaching many of life’s lessons. In particular, how we encourage
sportsmanship by our behavior as parents and coaches and how we
handle its aberrations, both on and off the field impart invaluable
lessons for our children throughout their lives. Although we all
want the best for our children, especially the satisfaction of
winning a hard fought game, it is equally important that we prepare
and teach our children to lose graciously. It is for this reason
that the Board of Directors developed the Parent and Spectator Code
of Ethics.
